I am fascinated by shape, texture and contrast as Ilook through my studio window at the open sky with silhouetted branches, touch the golden lichen encrusted twigs along the old railway track or hear the waves crashing and the gulls crying after a storm.
Annie gets much of the inspiration for her designs from the magical island of Bali where she is based for most of the year. Her influences are gathered from many aspects of Bali life from the localflora and fauna, the magical people and the colours and patterns found in the local markets and villages.
Gould's Jewellers was Established in 1963 by Bob and Maureen Gould. Bob worked on optical equipment in the Naval Dockyard Portsmouth and studied Horology at evening classes before opening the shop.Bob continued to work in the dockyard and repair watches and jewellery in the evenings whilst Maureen ran the shop during the day. I was born in 1964 in the flat above the shop and my brother Glenn 2 years later.

The business was bought by RichardLeonard Austen, an R.A.F. Bomber Navigator and Gemmologist in February 1948 and changed the name to R.L. Austen Ltd. In August 1964 'Dikkie' Austen moved the business to 75 North Street.
